Volunteering
Volunteering is a great way to assist us and do something to better the world in a small way! Volunteers may assist with education, research, animal care, administration, and landscaping. All volunteers must be 18 or older, and depending on the jobs performed, undergo training to qualify.
- Docents - do you love to engage people? Become a docent and do just that! Docents are stationed in the museum and around the grounds educating people about prehistoric life. Gotta be good with people!
- Food Prep Volunteer - if you like working with food, you can work in the animal kitchens and prepare food for our hundreds of hungry mouths!
- AP3 Volunteers - the volunteers in the AP3 building have a special outreach job - live animals are involved! Docents here use our animal ambassadors to help people get in touch with the past. Must be good with children and animals.
- Aquarium and Aviaries - volunteers who want to do a less people-oriented task can assist with keeping the aviaries and aquarium clean. Duties include general maintenance, testing water quality, and pipe-cleaning. Diving or rappelling may be required.
- Landscapers - we need people to help us landscape and keep the grounds looking nice and well-groomed!
- Office Volunteers - for those who are good at paying attention to detail, we have volunteer positions for data entry and administrative help. These are among the better jobs for people who hate going outside.
- Maintenance and Construction - if you're down for backbreaking labor, we also take volunteers who want to help with exhibit construction, electrical work, plumbing, and other manual maintenance jobs.
- Vet Assistance - if you have veterinary experience, the veterinary office will take assistance! Tasks include helping with routine examinations and grabbing tools and coffee for the paid veterinarians.
- PR Volunteering - good at public relations? Wanna manage a social media page? Apply here and you can do just that. You may even be writing the blog!
