Saurolophus

There are two species of Saurolophus, one from North America and one from Asia. The North American species was smaller and rarer than this one. Its name alludes to the crest projecting diagonally from its skull. Interestingly, Saurolophus is closely related to hadrosaurs that are normally crestless.

Saurolophus is a fairly large hadrosaur. It was a common large herbivore in the forests of the Nemegt, and like other hadrosaurs was likely a herding animal. The crest is present even in juveniles.

Saurolophus can be found in the Mongolia of the Cretaceous exhibit.
