Kulindadromeus

Kulindadromeus is one of the most important dinosaur finds in recent years. Described in 2014, it is the first ornithischian with definitive feathers! Previously, there had been debate over whether the filaments in Psittacosaurus and Tianyulong were really feathers, or if they were separately-evolved bristles. Kulindadromeus helps support the idea that feathers were present in the ancestor of all dinosaurs.

Kulindadromeus's feathers cover most of the body, except for the hands, lower legs, and tail. It has three types of feathers - simple hairlike feathers that cover most of the body, a feather that starts as a flat base that splits into long filaments (found on the upper arms and legs), and a ribbonlike bundle of filaments (found on the lower legs). As well, it has scales similar to those of other dinosaurs, including a row of scutes going down the tail.

Apart from that, it is a pretty standard ornithischian. It has a triangular skull with bony ridges that give it "angry eyebrows". Its arms are short and five-fingered. Many fossils of this small herbivore have been found, potentially indicative of group living.

Kulindadromeus is one of the animals in the Petting Zoo. Their docile nature, soft feathers and overall cuteness makes them a fan favorite.
