Khaan

A male Khaan

Khaan is a relatively small crestless oviraptorid from Cretaceous Mongolia. It's a fairly typical oviraptorid - relatively small, short-tailed, and beaked. Like other oviraptorids, it was probably omnivorous - a good trait to have in a desert.

Khaan is known to be sexually dimorphic. Two specimens of the same size have differently-sized tail vertebrae. The one with more robust vertebrae was likely the male, as the tail supports a large fan of display feathers in oviraptorids.

Our Khaan can be found in the Mongolia of the Cretaceous exhibit.
