Estemmenosuchus

Estemmenosuchus's name, "crowned crocodile" (although it is a primitive mammal relative, not a crocodile), alludes to its most distinctive feature - the large antler-like horns on its head. These were probably used for display; their shapes differ between the two species of Estemmenosuchus. Like other tapinocephalians, it is a stockily-built, large-skulled animal with sprawling limbs.

Estemmenosuchus was evidently a common sight in Permian Russia, being known from quite a few specimens. It is potentially a hippopotamus-like semiaquatic herbivore. Like hippos, it's known to have bare skin.

Estemmenosuchus can be found in Synapsid Alley.
