Cretolamna

Cretolamna is a medium-sized shark, with species known worldwide from a 50 million year range. Unlike many fossil sharks, whole body fossils are preserved, providing an unique glimpse into its appearance - which resembles living mako sharks.Cretolamna's teeth are broad-based and have a long, narrow crown, indicating a diet of fairly large prey.

Our Cretolamna live in the Cretaceous section of the Aquarium. They're very active; we feed them much more often than most of our other chondrichthyans.
