Carcharocles angustidens

Though not as famous as its relative C. megalodon, Carcharocles angustidens is still quite a good-sized shark. Like its relative, C. angustidens is known mostly from teeth (that can reach almost 10 cm long) and vertebrae. It likely preyed on large vertebrates from coasts worldwide, foreshadowing its later, more infamous relative.

Our Carcharocles angustidens shares a tank in the Neogene section of the Aquarium with our Megalodon. The two are young, but when they grow they will be massive, and will be moved to a larger sea pen. Feeding time is a must-see.
