Aquilops
Known from a skull, Aquilops is notable for being the earliest Ceratopsian from North America. At the time, the group was mostly known in Asia. Its name means "eagle eye", and for good reason - its hooked beak and prominent brow ridge bring to mind the US's national bird. Likely bipedal like other ceratopsians, it bears a unique horn on its snout mostly composed of soft tissue. We have four Aquilops that serve as animal ambassadors. They aren't always the most calm animals, and tend to scream at random things. It's more adorable than intimidating. The quills are softer than they appear. |
