Public Facilities

IDEA Outreach Centers

The IDEA has public outreach centers in Concepcion, Los Angeles, Paris, and Sydney. Here, visitors can learn about de-extinction, conservation, and the history of life.

Thomas Henry Huxley Paleozoological Gardens

The Thomas Henry Huxley Paleozoological Gardens, located in southeastern Australia, is the primary public showcase of the IDEA's efforts. Open throughout the year, this public facility houses a large number of archaic and recently extinct organisms.

Monde Cenozoique

Located in Orleans, France, Monde Cenozoique is a zoo run by Cuvier Genetics. Originally founded with only Holocene animals, both extant and extinct, the institution now houses de-extinct species from throughout the Cenozoic.

Other Institutions

Other member institutions may also have public facilities. The Pacific Bird Extinction Project has a visitor center on Maui, Hawaii. Pleistocene Park and the Figueroa Institution's reserves both have public visitation options.

Events

International De-Extinction Conference

Every November, the International De-Extinction Conference invites de-extinction workers from around the world to convene and present research on ancient DNA extraction, de-extinction, and conservation. 2021's Conference will be held in Los Angeles.
