Styracosaurus

Like all other ceratopsids, Styracosaurus was a large animal with a compact body and a richly-ornamented head. It had several spikes jutting out of its frill, with the two at the very top pointing inwards to meet each other, and a large curved nose horn. This species has more inward-pointing spikes than the more famous S. albertensis.

Styracosaurus is a herding animal that eats soft low-lying plants, which it chews using shearing batteries of teeth in its jaws. Styracosaurus ovatus, formerly known as Rubeosaurus, lived in a dry lowland environment alongside dromaeosaurids, troodontids, ankylosaurs, and hadrosaurs such as Hypacrosaurus and Prosaurolophus.

Our Styracosaurus can be found in the Gladiators of the Mesozoic exhibit.
